Curbside Battery Recycling Program

Picture of a zip lock bag being setout with a recycling box during a special curbside battery collection. This program is only offered by some municipalities during certain times of year. Batteries should never be place insdide blue boxes loose, or setout with recycling outside of these special events.

Battery waste is generated in small quantities by everyone. The average person produces between 1 and 3 pounds of used batteries each year.

Unfortunately, many batteries are still set out with the regular trash because of limited awareness or access to convenient recycling programs.

The good news is, over 95% of people surveyed said that they would recycle their batteries if it were more convenient.

Curbside Battery Recycling is the Solution!

The Curbside Battery Recycling program "Batteries Dead? Recycle Instead!" is designed to piggy back on any municipal curbside program.

Find out which municipalities are providing an upcoming curbside collection.

  2. Following the directions on the bag, it's filled with used batteries and sealed using the zip tab.
  3. On a dedicated recycling day the bag is set out for proper recycling.

How to Prepare Your Batteries for Recycling

Raw Materials Company uses a mechanical process that separates all of the components of a primary battery so they can be properly recycled. The recovered materials are used to make new products saving our earth's finite resources and the energy needed to mine them from ore.
