Reverse Distribution Courier-Back Box Program:
(for sealed cell alkaline batteries)

R.M.C. offers Reverse Distribution Collection, for smaller sealed cell battery types. R.M.C. has a patented process in the United States and Canada to recycle alkaline type batteries. Our courier back box program is ideal for offices, commercial and industrial establishments, which generate small quantities of sealed cell batteries. Upon receipt of the order form and payment of $129.00 each (taxes included), boxes are shipped to customers with a plastic liner, instructions for assembly and a prepaid shipping waybill via U.P.S. Our boxes hold up to 20 KG's of sealed cell batteries.

The fee includes:

1. Delivery of lined container
2. Instructions
3. Sorting fee
4. Recycling fee
5. Return freight by courier
6. All applicable taxes

When your batteries are recycled (within 90 days), you receive a Certificate to serve as notification that ownership of the waste and any ongoing environmental liability, has been legally transferred to Raw Materials Company, immediately upon acceptance of the waste.

Once full, the box is simply taped for shipping and a phone call made to the 1-800 number included with the instructions. The batteries are then picked up by U.P.S. and delivered to R.M.C. for recycling. Clients generally keep an additional box on hand, while filling a box, so it does not interupt their regular service.

Large cells (vented) ie. forklifts, automotive, emergency power, lighting, etc....can also be arranged by contacting one of our representatives.

Drum Program:

For larger generators of sealed cell batteries, we have a Drum Program in place which will allow for the shipment of up to 300 kg's of sealed cell batteries. Our Drum Program includes the supply of drums, labelling, freight and recycling of the batteries.

Industrial (Vented-Wet) Cell Program:

For generators of industrial, vented batteries such as Nickel-Cadmium, Nickel Iron, Air Depolarized Zinc, Lead Acid, etc....different options are available.

All material received at R.M.C. must be palletized and securely wrapped in order to avoid leakage while in transit or delays while unloading. An alternative, R.M.C. has trained staff that can provide on-site packaging (including labelling and documentation), loading and removal via permitted transports.

Freight can be arranged by R.M.C. or by the customer. In general, all freight to R.M.C. is at the cost of the customer, unless otherwise specified by contract, tender submission or special arangement between the customer and R.M.C.

Milk Runs:

R.M.C. has started a program to collect all types of battery waste, using permitted transports on "milk runs". This milk run program allows for receiving battery waste from a number of different generators on the same transport. The transportation cost is thereby shared, resulting in a freight savings.

U.S. and Canadian E.P.A. regulations currently dictate that generators dispose of battery waste on a timely basis (90 days). The milk run was designed to reduce the overall cost of recycling, while allowing the generator to remain in compliance with all regulations. Freight savings have been substantial, where routing has been established.

Battery Identification Guide:

R.M.C. has published a guide, complete with colour photographs, to help our customers with the task of identifying and sorting the various battery types. This guide also includes comprehensive information on the different labelling requirements, specific packaging information and the shipping documentation needed for each different battery type.

Information is given for both Canadian and U.S. based customers in a manner which is easy to read and understand.

Our Battery Identification Guide is constantly under revision as legislative requirements change on a regular basis.

Training at R.M.C. and Site Specific Training:

R.M.C. personnel are available to train your staff on how to identify, segregate and package your various battery types. We can also assist your personnel with various Canadian and U.S. transportation labelling and documentation requirements, including those for Transboundary movement.

Complete On-Site Service:

R.M.C. can accommodate all your battery recycling needs. If you prefer, R.M.C. can go on-site to prepare your batteries for shipment.

This complete service includes the identification, sorting and packaging of all your different battery types. R.M.C. could also supply and attach the proper shipping labels and prepare documentation for your material while in transit. This complete on-site service would also include freight and recycling fees. R.M.C. serves government, industry, hospitals, municipalities, transit and rail companies, communications, utilities, schools and others across North America, managing their waste all the way.

Transportation Within Ontario:

R.M.C. is a permitted transporter of hazardous waste in Ontario and operates under the Ministry of Environment & Energy Certificate of Approval No. A821174

R.M.C. can take care of all your battery freight needs anywhere in the world.

Canadian Import and Export Paperwork:

For our U.S. based customers wishing to ship hazardous waste batteries to us, there are two choices. Our customers can ship direct into our Buffalo facility and R.M.C. will transfer the material to our Ontario facility. R.M.C. can prepare documentation for trans border hazardous waste shipments through notification to the U.S. E.P.A and Environment Canada.

Ontario Waste Generator Registration:

R.M.C. will assist with the application to the Ontario Ministry of Environment, for an Ontario Hazardous Waste Generator Registration Number.

Understanding that customers have varying needs, it is possible to tailor a program to suit the customers' requirements.
